PESHAWAR: National Highways & Motorway Police (NHMP) issued a notification regarding the closure of the Motorway M-1 between Sawabi and Burhan. Heavy fog has intensely limited the vision.
Therefore, the officials said that due to heavy fog, the motorway will remain closed until the weather clears completely.
They also added that motorists are advised to avoid unnecessary travelling and wait until the fog fades away.
They encouraged motorists to delay the journey till the fog clears.
This preventive action is supposed to provide safety to all road users. High-speed travel is a major cause of accidents in low visibility.
Travel Advisory
The shutdown is short-term, yet vital because of the dangerous circumstances. Moreover, the Motorway Police has put up additional patrols.
These teams will keep watch of the weather and help the stuck commuters. Thus, it has been asked of people to cooperate with the NHMP.
Besides that, the Motorway Police are in touch with the weather authorities. They will declare the opening of the M-1 in the near future.
The drivers intending to use this road are advised to follow the official channels of NHMP to get updated information.
However, there is no doubt that safety is the ultimate priority in winter fog. It is only when visibility is safe that the police will reopen the M-1.
This is a proactive measure that prevents big accidents on the road. Drivers should not ignore whatever the police tell them.
