Food prices increase as Ramzan 2026 begins

‘Ramazan Nigahban Package’: Subsidized food items announced for special markets

With the start of Ramadan in Peshawar inflation has severely affected the purchasing power of citizens.

People are facing serious difficulties in buying daily essential items as prices of fruits, vegetables, meat and other commodities have recorded a 100 percent increase within a single day.

As a result many residents are being forced to buy goods in grams instead of kilograms or purchase items one by one. Meanwhile the district administration has failed to take any effective measures to control prices and the lack of implementation of the official price list reflects administrative failure.

Citizens are also facing severe inconvenience due to traffic congestion and heavy rush during shopping for iftar and sehri.
