Foolproof security plan unveiled for Gilgit-Baltistan general elections

Authorities have implemented extensive security measures to ensure that the upcoming general elections in Gilgit-Baltistan will be held in a peaceful, transparent, and secure manner. As part of the security plan, thousands of Punjab Police personnel have been deployed to the region to maintain law and order and ensure a smooth electoral process.

According to media reports, 5,000 Punjab Police personnel will be sent to Gilgit-Baltistan to provide election security. The force has been assembled from various wings of the Punjab Police to effectively handle any untoward incidents and maintain public order throughout the election period.

Reports indicate that the contingent includes personnel from the Riot Management Police, with 1,500 officers from this specialised unit assigned to election security duties.

In addition, 1,958 personnel from the Punjab Highway Patrol will be deployed in Gilgit-Baltistan, while 1,242 members of the Punjab Constabulary have also been included in this important mission. Furthermore, 300 police personnel from Lahore will be sent specifically to assist with security operations.

It has been learned that administrative orders have already been issued within the police department to ensure the safe and timely transportation of the large contingent. The Additional Inspector General (AIG) Operations has formally written to the SSPMT, directing that suitable, high-quality transport arrangements be made immediately for the deployment of personnel to Gilgit-Baltistan.

The letter further instructs that complete details regarding transportation arrangements and the personnel being dispatched be submitted promptly to the Central Police Office to facilitate effective monitoring and coordination of the deployment process.
