The government of Pakistan has announced a major facility for the current Hajj season this year. According to the new facility for the current Hajj the immigration process of Hajj will be completed within Pakistan for those departing from Karachi and Islamabad.
The facility is part of the Road to Makkah project which will make the Hajj journey smoother and more convenient.
Under the new project pilgrims from Rawalpindi, Azad Kashmir and specific districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will complete their immigration process before leaving Pakistan from Islamabad Airport.
In this project Hajj pilgrims departing from Karachi Airport will also experience immigration clearance at home.
According to the officials, the pilgrims on their return will also benefit from the new facility as the immigration process will be completed in Pakistan to ensure a faster and smoother return process.
The new facility aims to avoid long waiting queues upon arrival in Saudi Arabia and proceed directly to their hotels, which will allow them to focus on their religious duties and other arrangements.
As per the official that under the Road to Makkah project discussions are underway with Saudi officials to extend the project to additional cities so more pilgrims can benefit from this initiative.
The project is intended to make the Hajj journey safer, more organised, and hassle-free by eliminating lengthy airport waits and complex immigration procedures.
Govt unveils AI app to tackle illegal immigration
In a separate development, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced the launch of an artificial intelligence-based app as a pilot project to stop illegal immigration and identify fake travel documents.
