The Punjab Forensic Science Laboratory (PFSA) has completed its forensic analysis of videos related to the May 9, 2023 riots.
The report, which was prepared after the Peshawar Police wrote to Punjab Police on the orders of Peshawar High Court, confirmed presence of top PTI leaders, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, Kamran Bangash and Taimur Jhagra and Irfan Saleem.
The report is based on a USB drive submitted by Thana (police station) Sharqi police station, having 16 videos that have gone through a frame-by-frame probe.
According to the detailed report prepared after forensic examination of the visual evidence, the individuals were involved at sites during the violent protests and attacks on public and military installations.
No signs of editing were found in most videos, however, a few clips showed additions of logos and text overlays. In two videos, evidence of clip joining was identified involving Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and Irfan Saleem, the reported revealed.
Images of Sohail Afridi, Irfan Saleem, Kamran Bangash, and Taimur Jhagra were compared and confirmed to match the people in the May 9 videos.
The forensic lab tests prepared between December 19 and December 23, 2025, were limited strictly to visual material and did not include audio or other aspects.
This development came after an Anti-Terrorism Court’s earlier order for forensic analysis of videos and NADRA-based facial verification to identify individuals in the vandalism and arson in the Radio Pakistan attack case.
