The government of Punjab has launched a free bus service in Attock to meet the rising transport costs.

22 buses have been introduced for the inter-city free transport facility across seven different routes on Sunday.

This major initiative was inaugurated by the current Member of the National Assembly (MNA) of Pakistan Muslime League (N), Sheikh Aftab Ahmad Khan, at the general bus stand.

The officials have said that this new service will provide free travel services to the public.

As per the route plan, the following stations have been included for the free bus service: Attock to Hassanabdal, Hazro, and Fatehjang, along with the routes that connect Fatehjang to Pindigheb and Jand.

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Attock, Rao Atif Raza, said that the first phase of the service will include 22 buses on the routes as briefed.

He also ensured that a strict check would be in effect to maintain the service quality.

The authorities said that the new bus service has been initiated as a result of price hikes in petrol and diesel, due to which the fares have been increased.

This new facility will provide free travel service to the passengers, the authorities added.

As per the media reports, the new bus service will be an advantage for low- and middle-class people, who hardly make both ends meet to manage the expenses.
