Web desk: Funeral prayers for officials martyred in a terrorist attack on a government vehicle on Miranshah Road, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, were offered at a local ground.
Neither the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa nor any provincial minister attended the funeral, a fact that has drawn widespread criticism from the public and social media users.
The incident occurred in the morning when armed men targeted the vehicle of Assistant Commissioner Miranshah, Shah Wali, near a flour mill on the Miranshah–Bannu Road.
The attack left the Assistant Commissioner, three government officials, and a passerby dead on the spot.
According to police, the attackers managed to escape and took weapons from the injured officers.
Security sources said the attack appeared to be highly planned, with suspected involvement of terrorists from the group Fitnah-al-Khawarij, who have previously targeted government officials in the region.
Participants at the funeral paid tribute to the martyrs and demanded effective measures to curb the rising incidents of terrorism and to bring the perpetrators to justice quickly.
Public sentiment expressed strong disappointment over the provincial government’s absence, noting that while the armed forces and police personnel risk their lives daily to protect the country, the government appears more focused on political matters than on security.
Citizens stated that the absence of government representatives at the funeral, especially at such a critical time, is not only regrettable but also adds to the grief of the martyrs’ families.
Observers stressed that the province now requires a strong strategy and effective coordination to combat the new wave of terrorism and ensure the safety of the public.
