A young girl lost her life and several others sustained injuries due to an explosion caused by a gas blast in Phool Nagar, a city situated in the Kasur District of Punjab, on Thursday night.
According to sources, the explosion took place in a residence on Eidgah Road in Phool Nagar. Following the blast, panic ensued in the vicinity.
The force of the explosion was so intense that it shattered the doors and windows of the house.
Emergency services and police arrived at the scene shortly after the explosion and transported the deceased and injured individuals to the hospital.
In the meantime, law enforcement have initiated an investigation. Local authorities have commenced their inquiry into the cause of the incident.
Officials are advising caution in the Phool Nagar area as they strive to assess any additional risks and address public safety issues after the gas blast.
The residents of Phool Nagar are left to deal with a harrowing reality, struggling to cope with this violent event that affects the nature of daily life amid the turmoil of urban environments.
Gas blast at Karachi Soldier Bazaar
Earlier on Thursday, at least 15 individuals, including women and children, lost their lives, and 18 others sustained injuries following a gas explosion that led to the partial collapse of a residential building in the Soldier Bazaar area of Karachi, as reported by officials.
The event took place at a residence located in the Gul Rana Colony area of Soldier Bazaar. The injured individuals and the deceased were transported to Civil Hospital.
Initially, Rescue 1122 reported the death toll to be 16. However, officials later verified that the actual number of fatalities was 15, with 18 others injured.
Police surgeon Dr. Summaiya Syed verified that 15 individuals were pronounced dead upon arrival at Civil Hospital Karachi.
The police surgeon indicated that the majority of fatalities resulted from head injuries. “Several victims arrived with crush injuries, while others presented with numerous wounds,” Dr. Summaiya stated.
Rizwan Patel, the Station House Officer of Soldier Bazaar, mentioned that a first information report regarding the incident has not been filed yet. He noted that legal actions would commence following the instructions of senior officials.
