ISLAMABAD: With the arrival of winter in Pakistan, the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has announced new gas load-shedding schedule.

As per details, the new schedule was issued to manage the gas shortage and supply gas to every household as per the available resources.

New Gas Schedule

The gas will be available to domestic users in the following hours.

Morning: 5:30 AM – 8:30 AM

Afternoon: 11:30 AM 1:30 PM

Evening: 5:30 PM – 8:30 PM

Households affected by new schedule

Under the updated schedule, households will need to align their cooking and heating activities with the official gas supply hours. Consumers are encouraged to plan their meals and operate gas appliances only during the designated periods to prevent disruptions. Outside these hours, gas pressure may be significantly reduced or temporarily unavailable.

SNGPL has also called on consumers to use gas wisely and minimize wastage. Simple measures like turning off geysers when not in use and properly insulating pipes can help ensure steady pressure for all users.

Report gas theft

SNGPL has urged the public to stay alert and cooperate with the authorities to ensure the success of its plan. Illegal connections and gas theft remain significant contributors to pressure drops in numerous areas. Residents are encouraged to promptly report any suspicious activities to the SNGPL helpline, helping to maintain fair distribution and uninterrupted service for all.

The company stated that tackling the gas crisis effectively relies on shared responsibility, which is crucial to preventing more extensive outages in the months ahead.

Gas connection ban removed

In a separate development earlier, the ban on new gas connections for domestic consumers was lifted, giving much relief to the public who were made to rely on expensive LPG as an alternate.

According to Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) Managing Director Aamir Tufail the Prime Minister has lifted the ban on domestic gas connections for public convenience and approved new LNG connections.

The MD said following the lifting of the ban, the company aims to complete a target of 300,000 new connections this year. From next year onward, 600,000 domestic consumers will be provided with gas connections annually.

Monitoring units have been set up at SNGPL’s head offices and regional levels to oversee the process.

He said that demand notices from 245,000 applicants had already been received, and letters had been sent to them.
