Gold prices in Pakistan crashed on Friday after a major drop in the international market, ending a strong rally that had pushed rates to record highs earlier this week.
The price of 24-karat gold dropped by Rs35,500 per tola to settle at Rs537,362. This marks the biggest single-day decline in recent weeks.
The fall came just a day after gold had surged for two consecutive sessions. In the previous trading session, gold prices jumped by Rs21,200 per tola, reaching an all-time high of Rs572,862. The price of 10-gram gold had also climbed sharply, gaining Rs18,175 to stand at Rs491,136.
On Friday, the price of 24-karat gold per 10 grams fell by Rs30,435 to Rs460,701. Meanwhile, 22-karat gold was quoted at Rs422,324 per 10 grams.
Silver prices also moved lower in the local market. The price of 24-karat silver dropped by Rs1,106 to Rs11,069 per tola, while 10-gram silver fell by Rs949 to Rs9,489.
In the global market, spot gold traded near $5,145 an ounce, down $291.3, or 5.36 percent, as investors booked profits after a historic rally.
Despite the latest drop, gold prices had risen by more than Rs115,000 during January 2026 in earlier sessions, reflecting strong investor interest amid global uncertainty.
