Gold price rises for second straight session

Highest gold price in Pakistan

Gold prices in Pakistan rose again on Tuesday, marking the third increase of 2026, as demand stayed strong both at home and abroad.

According to the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association, gold’s price increased by Rs3,200 per tola. This pushed the rate to Rs464,762 per tola in the local market.

The price of 10 grammes of gold also moved higher. It increased by Rs2,743 to reach Rs401,201.

Silver prices followed same trend. Silver became costlier by Rs338 and was sold at Rs8,361 per tola.

The latest increase came after a sharp jump earlier this week, when gold prices surged by Rs9,200 per tola. Traders say the market has remained volatile, with buyers reacting quickly to global developments.

In the international market, gold prices also edged higher. The rate rose by $32 to $4,456 per ounce, including a $20 premium.

Global market

Gold prices held near a one week high on Tuesday and remained close to record levels. Investors continued to turn to gold as a safe option amid increasing geopolitical tensions and growing hopes of interest rate cuts in the US.

Today, spot gold was up 0.3 percent at $4,461.09 per ounce. Prices had risen by almost 3 percent in the previous session. Gold had touched a record high of $4,549.71 on December 26 and ended last year with a gain of 64 percent, its strongest yearly performance since 1979.

US gold futures for February delivery also rose by 0.3 percent to $4,462.60.

Market analysts suggest that the rally is linked to global uncertainty and weaker economic data from the US.

ActivTrades analyst Ricardo Evangelista said gold was gaining support from safe haven demand after recent events in Venezuela, as well as rising expectations of US interest rate cuts following weak manufacturing data.

On Monday, Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro pleaded not guilty in a New York court to charges that included narco terrorism and possession of heavy weapons.
