Google has introduced the Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold, bringing a slimmer design, stronger construction and a range of AI-powered features aimed at making its premium foldable more practical for everyday use.
The new handset is around 10 per cent lighter and roughly 1mm thinner than its predecessor, making it easier to carry and hold. Google has also narrowed the bezels and is offering the device in Obsidian and a new Olive finish.
A notable addition is HiLight, an LED notification system built into the camera module. When the phone is placed face down, the lights provide colour-coded alerts for selected contacts and indicate when users are interacting with Gemini hands-free. Google says the feature will gain additional notification functions over time.
Stronger hinge, brighter displays and faster charging
Durability has been a major focus for the Pixel 11 Pro Fold. The device retains an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance while introducing a glass fibre composite rear panel, a redesigned gearless hinge and a ceramic-covered external display. According to Google, these changes make the foldable three times more durable than last year’s model.
The redesigned hinge also reduces the visibility of the display crease, while both the inner and outer screens now reach up to 3,600 nits of peak brightness, improving outdoor visibility.
Charging has also been upgraded. The phone supports 30W wired charging, reaching 50 per cent battery in about 30 minutes, alongside faster 25W Qi2.2 wireless charging. Google claims the device delivers more than 24 hours of battery life on a full charge.
Tensor G6 powers AI and productivity
At the heart of the Pixel 11 Pro Fold is Google’s new Tensor G6 processor paired with 16GB of RAM. The chip is designed to handle on-device AI tasks more efficiently while improving app performance and web browsing speeds.
Google has also tailored several software features for the foldable form factor. A new sign-to-text capability, developed with members of the Deaf community, translates American Sign Language into text using the front-facing camera. Meanwhile, floating app bubbles allow users to keep frequently used apps readily accessible while multitasking on the larger unfolded display.
Camera upgrades
Photography receives a boost with a new 48-megapixel main camera and support for 30x Super Zoom. The handset also includes AI-powered camera tools such as Magic Capture and Camera Looks, which are designed to improve action shots and offer more creative editing options.

The Pixel 11 Pro Fold starts at $1,899 with 256GB of storage and is available in 256GB, 512GB and 1TB variants. Pre-orders are now open, with general availability scheduled for 20 August.
