Gov Kundi tells CM Afridi to exercise restraint, prioritize unity

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi condemned the remarks made by KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi against armed forces.

The governor took to X saying, that “I condemn any rhetoric that seeks to undermine the honour and sacrifice of our armed forces. The brave sons of our soil lay down their lives to protect our province questioning their intent in sensational terms only damages morale and public safety.”

He lauded the intelligence based operations conducted in KP, saying “Intelligence based operations have been and will remain necessary to protect our people; these are conducted with the sole aim of safeguarding civilians and restoring peace.”

Kundi warned KP chief minister that “Political debate must not cross into actions or words that weaken our security institutions.” CM KP should exercise restraint and place the safety and unity of #KhyberPakhtunkhwa above partisan posturing, he added.

The remarks came at the time when the province is witnessing a sharp rise in terrorist incidents.

In a separate development earlier at least 14 KP police officials of Khyber district suspended for their alleged involvement in corruption, drug smuggling and other illegal activities.

According to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police, the suspended cops have been ordered to report to Police Lines Khyber district.

The police officials revealed that four SHOs have also been issued show-cause notices over negligence in duties. DPO Khyber district has called for explanation and demanded a written reply within 7 days.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police CCPO said that there is no place for corrupt and dishonest officials in the provincial police.

Amid the recent sharp rise in terrorist incidents across the province, only honest and duty-conscious officers and personnel will remain in the police force, the CCPO added.
