The government has reduced the price of petrol by Rs3.63 per litre while increasing the price of high-speed diesel by Rs0.30 per litre.
Following the revision, the new price of petrol stands at Rs390.23 per litre, while diesel will now cost Rs396.96 per litre.
The reduction in petrol prices is expected to provide some relief to motorists and other consumers who rely on petrol for daily travel. However, the increase in diesel prices may add to transportation and freight costs, potentially affecting the prices of essential goods.
Diesel is widely used by public transport, heavy vehicles, agricultural machinery and goods carriers. Any increase in its price can raise operating expenses for transporters and farmers.
Petrol and diesel prices remain a major concern for consumers because changes in fuel costs can affect household budgets and the overall cost of living.
The revised prices reflect separate adjustments for the two major petroleum products, with petrol becoming cheaper and diesel recording a slight increase.
