The government has decided to launch the Vision Pakistan 2047 programme on August 12. The programme aims to transform Pakistan into a trillion-dollar economy through a long term national development strategy, and is expected to mark a major policy shift in the country’s economic and social transformation over the coming decades.
The government plans to improve the economy, create jobs, use modern technology, develop industries, improve education and healthcare, increase exports and investment, under this initiative. Measures will also be introduced to equip the younger generation with opportunities aimed at promoting sustainable growth and innovation.
Additionally, the government’s Uraan Pakistan Plan would be aligned with the objectives and framework of Vision Pakistan 2047.
Ministries to submit targets
The Prime Minister’s Office has sought targets from ministries and government institutions for the implementation of the programme. They are directed to prepare detailed input as part of the planning process. Ministries are expected to submit strategic targets, proposed reforms and a long-term development plans covering the following areas:
- National development
- Economic transformation
- Human capital development
- Technology
- Climate sustainability
- Governance reforms
Officials say the various ministries plans will help shape a cohesive national strategy under the Vision Pakistan 2047 framework. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to formally launch the programme.
