Minister of State for Law Barrister Aqeel Malik says the matter of imposing Governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is under consideration.
Speaking on Geo News programme Naya Pakistan, Barrister Aqeel Malik said that, given the situation of terrorism and the condition of the border, the government is considering it.
He said the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is visible to everyone. The province needs an administrative structure that can actually deliver. “How long will we leave the people of the province helpless?” he asked.
Barrister Aqeel Malik added that governor’s rule is imposed only in extreme circumstances, and the current provincial situation demands it. He also recalled that Punjab has experienced governor’s rule in the past.
Meanwhile, there are reports that KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi may be replaced.
Six names are under consideration for the new Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
These include three political figures and three former military officers.
Sources say that the political personalities under consideration are Haider Khan Hoti, Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, and Pervez Khattak.
According to sources, the names of Lieutenant General (R) Khalid Rabbani, Lieutenant General (R) Ghayur Mahmood, and Lieutenant General (R) Tariq Khan are also being considered for the KP governorship.
After such news, Faisal Kundi responded.
While speaking to journalists in Peshawar, he said he had no knowledge about any change in the governorship. “If the media is going to appoint governors, then God help us,” he remarked.
He added that he would accept whatever decision the party makes regarding his replacement.
