Govt Wants to Reduce Inflation But IMF Says No: Rana Sanaullah

Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, said that the government understands the burden on the general public and wants to reduce inflation, but the International Monetary Fund (IMF) refused.

He reiterated that today the common man is angry due to inflation and poverty, which the government did not cause.

Talking about politics, he said that it is driven by hatred, envy, and grudges has brought nothing to the country.

Earlier, Pakistan and the United States (US) discussed ways to deepen economic and investment cooperation, the Pakistani foreign office said, with Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar welcoming growing interest from American firms.

Pakistan launched its first Google Chromebook assembly line as a result of a public-private partnership involving the Pakistani government, Google and Tech Valley, along with the National Radio & Tele­com­munications Corpora­tion’s (NRTC) and Allied Corporation.

“Highlighting the importance of enhancing bilateral economic and investment cooperation, particularly in IT & critical minerals, the DPM/FM welcomed growing interest of US companies to invest in Pakistan, including establishment of the Google Chrome assembly line in Haripur,” the Pakistani foreign ministry said.

Pakistan’s consumer price inflation accelerated to 6.2 per cent year-on-year in October, the highest reading in 12 months.

Inflation has moderated from nearly 30 per cent a year ago to below 6 per cent in mid-2025 before edging up again, as the fading base effect and temporary supply shocks began to lift prices.
