Crackdown launched against those receiving BISP funds illegally

Action has been initiated across the province against government employees who illegally received funds under the Benazir Income Support Programme.

At various locations officers from federal and provincial departments ranging from Grade 1 to Grade 20 and their spouses unlawfully obtained hundreds of thousands of rupees.

After identification the details were forwarded to the Provincial Finance Department the Ministry of Interior and the AG Office Peshawar.

According to sources several employees of the Higher Education Department and the Education Department including women were found to be involved. Departmental inquiries were conducted and some individuals were summoned however certain employees have already retired or are close to retirement.

The administration has now begun the process of deducting the illegally obtained amounts from the salaries of the concerned employees in order to prevent losses to public funds and ensure checks against irregularities.

The Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) has launched the Benazir Nashonuma Programme to improve the health of women and young children.

New initiative has been started under BISP the Nashonuma Programme 2026 according to details of the programme, only women already registered with BISP are eligible to benefit from this programme.

It includes pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and children up to 23 months old.

The initiative focuses on better early childhood development and strengthening women’s health.

Benazir Income Support Programme 2026

It was earlier announced that a Social Protection Wallet system is being introduced under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP).

The system will provide free SIM cards to eligible individuals. From March 2026, all subsidies will be distributed digitally through these SIM cards.

The Prime Minister directed all relevant institutions and ministries to work together to prepare a plan for the upcoming Ramazan and Eid packages.

The meeting was attended by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Minister for Poverty Alleviation Syed Imran Ahmed Shah.
