Govt announces Rs2,200 aid for motorcycle owners: how to receive

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced a new relief program to help citizens cope with the recent rise in petroleum prices, according to details on Monday.

Under this program, every registered motorcycle owner in the province will receive Rs2,200 in financial assistance. The announcement was made during a press conference.

During it the Chief Minister (CM) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sohail Afridi, said that the recent increase in fuel prices has severely affected ordinary citizens.

He further noted that the effect is greatest on those who use motorcycles for daily commuting.

To ease this burden, the provincial government has decided to provide financial support to all such citizens to partially offset the effects of inflation.

The Chief Minister also added that the province currently has around 14 to 16 lakh registered motorcycles.

Additionally, all registered bike owners will be eligible for the Rs2,200 relief under the new scheme.

He also clarified that the entire cost of this aid package will be covered by the provincial government using its own resources. A special fund has been allocated to help in implementing of the program.

While the financial amount has been announced, the government has not yet shared the exact procedure for distributing the funds to motorcycle owners.

According to details, officials have said that a transparent and simple system is being developed to make sure that the aid reaches eligible people effectively.

The governments of Punjab and Balochistan have ordered the closure of schools as the country is facing a fuel shortage due to the current global situation. Authorities said the step is meant to reduce fuel use during the growing energy crisis.

However, according to the decision taken, the exams will take place according to the announced schedule.

All schools, colleges and higher education institutes in the province will remain closed starting today.

They will stay closed until March 23. A formal notification confirming the decision has already been issued regarding this.
