According to the details, a special mobile application is being developed that citizens will be able to download on their phones.

Petrol quota app Pakistan

Through this app, the users will be required to register by entering their vehicle number and national identity card number.

Under the proposed system, each citizen will be assigned a specific fuel quota based on their needs and availability.

Petrol or diesel will then be provided daily according to this fixed quota. This system is expected to help make sure of better use of resources.

The government has also reviewed fuel consumption data from March last year to the current March.

The review showed that fuel usage increased despite higher prices, instead of it decreasing. This trend has pushed the government to consider a rationing system.

Sources added that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will give a full briefing to the president on the proposed digital system and the plan to involve provinces in subsidy sharing.

He will also seek his support before making final decisions.
