Govt schools finalise annual exams schedule

Education authorities have finalised the annual examination timetable for government schools across Lahore with exams scheduled to commence from March 9, 2026 under an official notification.

According to the announced schedule examinations will be conducted in two daily shifts. The morning session will take place from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm while the afternoon session will run from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. However on Fridays the second shift will begin later and continue from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

The examination sequence varies by grade level. Grade one students will start with English while grade two students will appear in General Knowledge on the first day. Grade three students will take Islamic Studies or Ethics and grade four students will begin their exams with Mathematics.

Similarly grade five students will sit for Islamic Studies or Ethics as their opening paper. Mathematics will be the first subject for grade six students whereas grade seven students will appear in Computer Science and Arabic. Grade eight students will also begin their exams with Mathematics.

The examination plan also includes evaluations in Quran Recitation, Quran Translation and Tajweed along with assessments designed to measure students’ reading, listening and speaking abilities.

Under the School-Based Assessment (SBA) system grade eight examinations in Mathematics, Urdu, English and Science will be conducted at designated examination centers.

Authorities have instructed Chief Executive Officers of all concerned districts to ensure strict compliance with SOPs for the End-of-Year SBA 2026 to maintain transparency and standardized examination procedures.

Schools receive new urgent orders from govt


In separate development the Education Department has issued new urgent directives for all public and private schools to enhance safety measures with immediate effect.

According to the official notification by the Punjab Education Department, morning assemblies have been suspended across the province until further notice to prevent large gatherings of students on school premises. The department said the step has been taken as a precautionary measure in view of the current situation.

It has been made mandatory for all teachers to download the Safe City App to ensure swift communication with relevant authorities in case of any emergency. The initiative will improve coordination between educational institutions and law-enforcement agencies.
