The highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6 is being delayed again, rumours suggesting a further postponement to 2027.
Rockstar Games had earlier delayed the GTA 6, moving the release date to 19 November 2026, leaving fans both frustrated and hopeful.
Rockstar insiders, however, have countered the delay rumours. Reece “Kiwi Talkz” Reilly, a trusted voice who accurately predicted earlier delays, said that speculation of a shift to 2027 is nothing more than “total BS”, according to the Dexerto report.
GTA 6 has faced two major delays. The original release was planned for autumn 2025, then postponed to May 2026, and then to November 2026, marking over a decade of development.
The franchise’s massive popularity stems from GTA 5, released in 2013, which sold more than 220 million copies and redefined open-world gaming, generating unprecedented excitement for its sequel.
Rockstar also confirmed that GTA 6 will initially launch exclusively on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with the PC version expected later, though no specific timeline has been shared.
The first GTA 6 trailer, teased in December 2023, shattered online viewership records, highlighting the enormous anticipation and online buzz surrounding the game despite its repeated delays.
GTA 6 has been highly anticipated, in part because the previous entry in the series was released in September 2013. The 13-year long gap between releases is the longest the series has ever experienced.
What’s New
Set in the fictional state of Leonida, GTA 6 follows the adventures of criminal couple Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. Players will be able to control both characters as they roam Leonida, which includes a return to the titular metropolis of 2002’s Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.
As of 2025, GTA V was the second-highest-selling video game of all time, with publisher Take Two Interactive saying the game had moved 220 million units.
Grand Theft Auto VI
Gamers around the world consider Grand Theft Auto VI one of the most anticipated games ever. More than a decade after Grand Theft Auto V, Rockstar Games is finally bringing players back to the world of GTA. The first trailer for GTA VI broke records. The trailer confirmed that the game takes place in Leonida, a fictional version of Florida that includes the famous Vice City.
For the first time in the series, players will control two protagonists, a man and a woman named Lucia and Jason. The trailer showed unbelievably detailed graphics and a dense, living world. Set to release in 2025, GTA VI will only continue to build hype and is expected to set a new standard for open-world games.
