Gulf nation introduces free 14 day tourist visa

Oman has introduced a free 14-day tourist visa under its revised entry regulations.

The new visa has been introduced as part of amendments to the executive regulations of the Foreigners’ Residence Law and will be available to citizens of selected countries. The initiative aims to facilitate short-term visits and boost tourism.

The changes were introduced under Royal Oman Police Decision No. 109/2026, issued by Lieutenant General Hassan bin Mohsen Al Shuraiqi, Inspector General of Police and Customs.

The amendments came into effect the day after they were published in the Official Gazette.

Under the new provisions, the competent authority may issue a 14-day tourist visa free of charge to eligible visitors. Before the visa expires, travelers may convert it into any other tourist visa category available under the regulations.

The amendments add the new visa category to Article 10 of the executive regulations and include it in the official schedule of entry visas under Article 29, where the visa fee has been set at zero Omani rials.

Authorities have not yet published the list of eligible countries. However, the free visa will be available to citizens of countries designated by the competent authority.

Earlier, Dubai launched a new support platform to help people facing visa-related problems, offering guidance and essential services to stranded tourists, job seekers, and others in need.

Dubai Immigration chief Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri announced the initiative during a press briefing on Wednesday, alongside senior officials. He urged individuals experiencing visa issues to visit the Al Awir Centre, where authorities will assess their cases and provide assistance.

The newly launched centre will offer temporary accommodation for those without a place to stay, along with free meals and other essential support. People requiring medical care will receive free health check-ups and dental treatment.

Al Marri said the platform will also help individuals facing difficulties returning to their home countries by addressing the obstacles preventing their departure.

He added that the centre has been established to support stranded tourists and job seekers, stressing that Dubai considers them valued guests and is committed to resolving their concerns.
