GWM has imported an Australian-spec Tank 300 Hi4-T plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) to Pakistan for testing.

The vehicle has been received for evaluation and review purposes, providing an early look at the version GWM could introduce to the Pakistani market.

The Tank 300 is part of GWM’s premium Tank brand and is positioned as a luxury, off-road-focused mid-size SUV. It uses a body-on-frame chassis and is offered internationally with several powertrain options, including petrol, diesel, hybrid and plug-in hybrid systems.

The Hi4-T PHEV combines the Tank 300’s traditional off-road design with a plug-in hybrid powertrain and a range of technology and comfort features.

The vehicle has already been introduced in several international markets, including Australia, China, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Russia and South Africa.

According to information shared with PakWheels, GWM is considering launching the Tank 300 Hi4-T PHEV in Pakistan next year. The company has not yet announced local pricing or final launch specifications.

Tank 300 Hi4-T specs

The Tank 300 retains a boxy, traditional 4×4 appearance, with round LED headlights, an upright bonnet, squared-off bodywork and a high-riding stance.

The test vehicle has 18-inch alloy wheels and 222mm of ground clearance. At the rear, a side-hinged tailgate carries a full-size spare wheel, while the high-mounted bumpers are designed to improve the vehicle’s approach and departure angles.

The PHEV can be distinguished from conventional versions by its charging port, additional PHEV badging and other hybrid-specific details.

Some of the test vehicle’s exterior photographs show additional accessories and body kits that are not standard equipment on the Tank 300 PHEV.

Inside, the SUV combines its rugged exterior with a more upmarket cabin.

The dashboard features two 12.3-inch displays, including a digital instrument cluster and an infotainment screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported.

Other equipment includes Nappa leather-accented seats, electrically adjustable front seats with heating and ventilation, driver-seat memory and lumbar adjustment, and a massage function.

The cabin also features a heated steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, rear air-conditioning vents, 64-colour ambient lighting, wireless phone charging, multiple USB-C ports, a nine-speaker audio system and an electric sunroof.

A 360-degree camera and Transparent Chassis system are designed to improve visibility, particularly when manoeuvring off-road. The system can provide a simulated view of the area beneath the vehicle.

The Tank 300 PHEV comes with seven airbags, anti-lock braking, electronic stability control, traction control, hill-start assist and hill-descent control.

Its driver-assistance systems include adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keep assist and lane-centring assist.

Blind-spot monitoring and lane-change assist are also available, along with door-open warning and rear cross-traffic alert with braking.

Parking assistance includes a 360-degree surround-view camera, Transparent Chassis view and front and rear parking sensors.

The Tank 300 Hi4-T PHEV currently being evaluated in Pakistan is the unit imported by Sazgar for testing and reviewed by PakWheels.

While GWM has not announced a local launch date or price, information shared with PakWheels indicates that the company is targeting a possible launch in Pakistan in 2027.

If introduced, the Tank 300 Hi4-T PHEV would enter Pakistan’s premium SUV market with a combination of plug-in hybrid technology, body-on-frame construction, off-road capability and a feature-rich interior.
