Hand Grenade Attack on State Minister’s House

Web desk: Unknown attackers hurled a hand grenade at the house of Minister of State and MNA Mubarak Zeb Khan, police said on Wednesday.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident.

According to police, the blast damaged a vehicle parked at the residence and caused panic in the area.

The attack took place late at night. Upon receiving the report, Bajaur District Police Officer (DPO) Waqas Rafiq reached the site with a police squad and cordoned off the area to collect evidence.

Early reports indicate that the assailants went away after throwing the grenade. People could hear the explosion at a distance, and the windows of the surrounding buildings were broken.

DPO Bajaur Waqas Rafiq said that a full investigation has been launched, and a search operation is underway in nearby areas.

Police recovered grenade fragments and other evidence from the scene, which have been sent for forensic analysis. Authorities are investigating the incident from multiple angles to determine the motive.

It was reported that following the attack, security was tightened in the region, and the number of patrols in the police forces was increased to avoid any additional recurrence.

Locals reported widespread fear following the blast, but the situation was brought under control quickly due to the timely response of law enforcement agencies.

This was the third attack on Mubarak Zeb Khan’s residence. In the previous two incidents, unknown assailants had also targeted his house, but no one was injured.

Mubarak Zeb Khan, a member of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), was elected as MNA from NA-8 (Bajaur) in the by-elections held in August 2024.

He was appointed Minister of State for Frontier Regions (SAFRON) in October 2024 and is known locally for his work on development projects and public issues in Bajaur.

Police said the investigation is ongoing, and the culprits will be brought to justice once the inquiry is complete.
