The inauguration ceremony of the Hayatabad Underpass in Peshawar was disrupted by overcrowding and disorder, with PTI workers creating chaos at the venue. The situation reportedly prevented Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi from formally inaugurating the project.
The disruption began when a large number of workers gathered at the ceremony, affecting the arrangements and causing the situation to become increasingly difficult to manage. As the chief minister prepared to leave, the crowd surrounded his vehicle, with pushing and shoving reported among the workers. Some individuals also climbed onto the vehicle, further complicating the situation.
The crowd and congestion around the vehicle prevented Afridi from getting out and participating in the planned inauguration ceremony. He subsequently left the venue without completing the formal inauguration proceedings.
The large turnout also affected traffic on nearby roads, with the influx of people and vehicles causing significant congestion on Ring Road and creating difficulties for commuters. The ceremony ultimately ended without the planned formal proceedings being completed amid the disorder and traffic congestion at the venue.
