Heavy rain spell expected

The Meteorological Department has forecast rainfall across several parts of the country from April 1 to April 4th, signalling a shift in weather conditions across the province.

A westerly wind system is likely to enter southwestern Balochistan from April 1 and is expected to affect different parts of the country until April 4th. Under the influence of this system, the following conditions are expected:

Punjab

The Meteorological Department has forecast rain in various areas of Punjab from April 1 to April 4th. The expected affected districts include Attock, Rawalpindi, Chakwal, Jhelum, Sargodha, Mianwali, Faisalabad, Jhang, and Toba Tek Singh.

Rain is also predicted in Khushab, Noorpur Thal, Layyah, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, and Mandi Bahauddin. Additionally, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Pakpattan, Okara, Sahiwal, Kasur, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Rajanpur are likely to receive rainfall. Multan, Bahawalpur, Kot Addo, Bahawalnagar, Bhakkar and Rahim Yar Khan are also included in the forecast.

Balochistan

Intermittent rain, strong winds and thundershowers are expected in Panjgur, Turbat, Pishin, Awaran, and the coastal areas of Makran, Gawadar, Pasni, and Maza, as well as Lasbela, Khuzdar, Kharan, Chaghi, Dalbandin, Kalat, Harnai, Barkhan, Naseerabad, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Noshki, Zhob, Mastung, and surrounding areas. Heavy rain and hailstorms are likely at some places from the evening of April 1 to April 4.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Rain with strong winds and thundershowers is expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Shangla, Buner, Kohistan, Malakand, Mansehra, Hidayatabad, Balakot, Haripur, Mardan, Nowshera, Peshawar, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Kurram, Swabi, Charsadda, Hangu, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Tank, Dera Ismail Khan, and Waziristan. Snowfall is expected in hilly areas during this period.

In Gilgit-Baltistan & Kashmir

Intermittent rain with strong winds and thundershowers is expected in Diamer, Astore, Ghizer, Hunza, Gilgit, Skardu, Ghanche, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhnoti, Kotli, Bhimber, and Mirpur, while snowfall is expected in the mountains. Hail and heavy rain are likely at some places in Kashmir.

Sindh

Karachi, Thatta, Badin, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Jacobabad, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad, and Tharparkar are likely to experience intermittent rain with strong winds and thundershowers from April 2 to 4, with hail possible at some locations.

Advisories

Due to strong winds, hail and snowfall, residents are advised to take precautions to protect themselves and their property. Farmers should manage crops according to prevailing weather conditions. Tourists and travellers should exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel. Daytime temperatures are expected to decrease during this period.
