‘Help is on the way,’ Trump urges Iranians to keep protesting

Trump and Iran

US President Donald Trump has urged anti-government Iranian protestors to keep protesting. Trump further said that “Help is on the way.”

The US president wrote on Truth Social, “ Iranian Patriots, KEEP PROTESTING – TAKE OVER YOUR INSTITUTIONS!!! Save the names of the killers and abusers. They will pay a big price. I have cancelled all meetings with Iranian Officials until the senseless killing of protesters STOPS. HELP IS ON ITS WAY. MIGA!!! PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP.”

Earlier, Donald Trump threatened military action if Iran government will not stop killing protesters in the country. He recently said that US will impose 25% tarrif to the countries doing business with Iran.

Earlier on December 28, shopkeepers poured into the streets of Tehran to voiced their anger at a steep decline in the value of Iranian currency, the rial, against the US dollar on the open exchange market.

As protestors take to streets across Iran, the crackdown by the Iranian government has also intensified killing over 500 citizens across the country so far.

As per details, the latest figures collected by activists inside and outside Iran, verified by US based rights group HRANA, stated that 490 protesters and 48 security personnel killed, with over 10,600 people arrested in two weeks of unrest.

US President Donald Trump earlier today stated that he was considering potential military action against Iran, as deadly crackdowns spread across the country.

“They’re starting to, it looks like,” Trump said, when asked by reporters aboard Air Force One if Iran had crossed his previously stated red line of protesters being killed.

“We’re looking at it very seriously. The military is looking at it, and we’re looking at some very strong options. We’ll make a determination,” he said.

Iran responds to US threats

Iran warned that in case of a US attack during the ongoing wave of protests, it would strike US military and shipping targets.

Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said, “In the event of a military attack by the US, both the occupied territory and centres of the US military and shipping will be our legitimate targets.”
