RAWALPINDI: A new born declared dead by the doctors of the Holy Family Hospital (HFH) in Rawalpindi was actually alive and healthy.

As per details, due to negligence of the doctors of the Holy Family Hospital was declared dead. However the parents insisted that their baby was alive.

According to the medical staff, the baby showed no signs of life soon after birth. Doctors declared the infant dead and recorded it in hospital records.

Upon the insistence of the family, the doctors rechecked the baby and found that he was breathing and his vitals were improving.

Hospital officials said the newborn was affected by Lazarus Syndrome, a rare condition in which a person appears dead but later shows signs of life.


A board of inquiry has been set up to look into this sensitive matter while the hospital administration has assured that the responsible will be taken to task.

Meanwhile as part of Punjab Government initiative to provide quality health care at minimum cost, life-saving injections are being provided free of cost to stroke patients at the Holy Family Hospital (HFH) in Rawalpindi

According to the hospital administration, thrombolytic injection TPA (Alteplase/Actilyse injection is being provided to new stroke patients within the first 24 hours of stroke.

The market price of TPA injection is about Rs 80,000.
