Former cricketer Shahid Khan Afridi has said that receiving the award of Hilal-e-Imtiaz was an honour for him.
Shahid Afridi said that receiving the Hilal-e-Imtiaz title from the President of Pakistan is a great honour for him.
He added that by presenting the award, the President has not only honoured his caste but also the entire Pakistani nation.
Shahid Afridi, who shared a picture of himself and his companions on social networking site X, formerly known as Twitter, wrote that the love, prayers and constant support of the people have brought him to this point.

In his post, he stated that this achievement is actually a result of the love and trust of the Pakistani nation.

In his message, Shahid Afridi also paid tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed for the country and said that this award is also in the name of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for Pakistan. May Allah always keep Pakistan safe, he prayed.
During a special ceremony held at the Speaker’s House, President Asif Ali Zardari awarded Shahid Afridi with the Hilal-e-Imtiaz award in recognition of his outstanding services in the field of sports.
Shahid Afridi is considered to be one of Pakistan’s most successful all-rounders and has been representing the national cricket team for a long time.
The 46-year-old made a major contribution to Pakistan cricket across all formats during his career.
In One-Day Internationals (ODIs), he featured in 398 matches, scoring 8,064 runs, including 39 half-centuries and six centuries, while also claiming 395 wickets with nine five-wicket hauls.
In T20 Internationals, the right-handed batter played 99 matches, scoring 1,416 runs and taking 98 wickets.
Beyond international cricket, Afridi gained vast experience in franchise leagues around the world, representing teams in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Lanka Premier League (LPL), Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), Caribbean Premier League (CPL), Champions League Twenty 20, Big Bash League (BBL) and the Indian Premier League (IPL).
