Hina Javed murder case: Court extends physical remand of two suspects

The Rawalpindi District Court has extended the physical remand of two suspects, Faisal Asghar and domestic worker Zeeshan, by four days in the Hina Javed murder case. Police produced the two suspects before the court and sought a seven-day physical remand to further investigate the case. The court, however, approved a four-day extension.

The police told the court that they needed to recover the divorce documents issued by Faisal Asghar’s first wife, as well as the marriage documents between Faisal and the deceased. Police also sought permission to have the recovered marriage and divorce documents verified. Deputy Public Prosecutor Rehman Shaukat Bhatti appeared in court on behalf of the police. After hearing the arguments, the court approved the four-day physical remand and ordered the suspects to be produced again on September 2.

According to police, Hina Javed had married Faisal Asghar around nine months ago. She was allegedly subjected to repeated physical abuse by her husband but remained silent out of concern for her elderly parents, who were reportedly seriously ill. Police said the investigation indicates that Faisal Asghar allegedly killed Hina with the involvement of other suspects. Her body was later found hanging by a noose from a shower in the bathroom of the house. According to the initial investigation, her hands were tied, while blood and foam were reportedly found around her mouth.

Faisal Asghar and domestic worker Zeeshan have been arrested in connection with the murder, while Hina’s father-in-law has also been nominated in the case. Police said Faisal Asghar had previously been dismissed from two universities in Islamabad over allegations of sexual harassment. The investigation also revealed that the murder suspect had been married before. His first wife had reportedly divorced him over alleged domestic violence and abuse.
