Hina Javed’s family has demanded the formation of a judicial commission to investigate her murder, calling for an impartial and thorough examination of the case.
In an open letter posted on Instagram, Hina’s brother, Fahd Javed, rejected the findings of the police investigation committee and called for the immediate formation of a judicial commission to ensure an impartial investigation.
Addressing Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Fahd said forensic evidence has raised serious questions about the investigation.
“Please kindly note that the forensic evidence is clear, as Faisal’s DNA and the father-in-law’s DNA were found on Hina’s neck,” he wrote, adding that the father-in-law had initially told the family and police that a theft had taken place and that the thieves had spoken to him.
He further said that Hina’s DNA and fingerprint reports are still pending and that relevant messages of Hina Javed have been deleted from her mobile phone. He claimed that the investigation continued to shift blame away from the principal accused, Faisal, and focus on the domestic servant, whom he also accused of being involved in the murder.
The family also objected to the police investigation committee being allowed to determine guilt or innocence before the case goes to trial. They argued that such decisions should be made by a court of law rather than investigators.
In the accompanying Instagram caption, the family appealed to Maryam Nawaz, saying, “As Punjab’s first woman Chief Minister, you made women’s safety your priority. Hina’s brutal killing is now the test of that promise,” the family wrote.
“Please meet us so we can show you the gaps. As a woman in power in a man’s world, don’t let these men walk free. Reopen the evidence and set a precedent for every sister in Punjab and Pakistan,” the caption read.
