Web desk: Pakistan has strongly rejected the false and misleading claims that members of the Hindu community were denied entry into the country.
Responding to media questions, Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi said the allegations are completely baseless and are another attempt to distort facts and politicise an issue that was purely administrative.
Pakistan Rejects Allegations
It was explained in the statement that the High Commission for Pakistan in New Delhi had issued more than 2,400 visas to Sikh pilgrims from India to attend celebrations marking the birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji, taking place from November 4 to 13.
The statement read, “Pakistan categorically rejects the unfounded and misleading allegations that members of the Hindu community were denied entry into its territory. These claims are entirely baseless and represent yet another attempt to distort facts and politicise a matter that was purely administrative in nature.”
On Tuesday, a total of 1,932 pilgrims successfully crossed into Pakistan through the Attari-Wagah border. Andrabi added that about 300 visa holders were stopped by Indian authorities from crossing over.
It stressed that the entire immigration process on the Pakistani side was smooth, orderly, and without any obstruction.
The statement further said that only a few individuals were found with incomplete documents and could not provide satisfactory answers to immigration officials.
As per standard procedure, they were asked to return to the Indian side. “To suggest that these individuals were denied entry on religious grounds is completely incorrect and mischievous. Pakistan has always welcomed pilgrims of all faiths to visit its sacred religious sites under a well-established and facilitative framework. The action taken was purely administrative, consistent with Pakistan’s sovereign right to regulate entry into its territory,” the statement read.
It was emphasised that Pakistan has always welcomed pilgrims of all faiths to visit its sacred sites under an established and facilitative system. The action taken, he said, was purely administrative and consistent with Pakistan’s sovereign right to regulate entry into its territory.
It added that any attempt to give this matter a communal or political angle is regrettable and reflects the biased mindset that increasingly shapes the Indian government and media narratives.
