The federal government has officially issued a notification regarding public and national holidays for the year 2025.
According to the notification, a formal schedule of holidays has been arranged for the public and government employees on major national and religious occasions this year.
As per the federal government’s notification, Thursday, December 25, 2025, will be a public holiday across the country on the occasion of Quaid-e-Azam Day.
Pakistan will celebrate the birth anniversary of its founder, Quaid-e-Azam, with immense enthusiasm and respect. The day will begin with gun salutes in both the federal and provincial capitals, followed by a dignified changing of the guard ceremony at the Quaid’s mausoleum in Karachi.
Across the nation, official events and ceremonies will take place to honour the Quaid’s life, political struggles, and pivotal role in the creation of Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Friday, December 26, 2025, will be a public holiday for the Christian community following Christmas, so that Christian employees can participate in religious ceremonies and celebrations.
The notification also clarified that government offices will remain closed on Christmas in accordance with usual practice, reflecting respect for religious harmony and different communities.
