How many toll plazas will be auctioned across country?

The National Highway Authority (NHA) has announced the auction of 15 toll plazas situated on major highways across the country.

The main objective of the toll plazas auction is to streamline toll operations and ensure steady revenue collection from the national highway network.

The sources have revealed that toll plazas will be leased through an auction process for a term extending until June 30, 2027.

Open auction of toll plazas

The NHA will conduct an open auction of the toll plazas on March 12, 2026. The successful bidders will be required to pay a fixed monthly revenue to the government.

Among the toll plazas included in the auction, the highest minimum monthly revenue has been set for Hub (N-25) at Rs 48 million.

The minimum monthly revenue for DI Khan (N-55) has been fixed at Rs 18.7 million, while Rajanpur (N-55) has been set at Rs 14.9 million.

For other NHA toll plazas, the minimum monthly revenue is Rs 14.5 million for Basti Maluk (N-5), Rs 13.4 million for Wahwa (N-55), and Rs 9.3 million for Hassan Abdal (35-N).

Companies must complete their registration by March 11, 2026, to participate in the open auction scheduled for March 12, 2026.

All lanes of 220 toll plazas to be opened

On the other hand, the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Communications has decided to open all lanes at 220 toll plazas across the country to save citizens from long queues and delays on the superhighway.

The Chairman of the National Highway Authority (NHA) issued a directive stating that any contractor who fails to open even a single booth will have their contract cancelled.

Following this decision, traffic flow at toll plazas improved, and citizens appreciated the immediate action.

A member of the standing committee said that the decision was made in view of the difficulties faced by citizens who had been stuck on the superhighway for two hours.

The NHA also announced that whenever construction work is underway, police will monitor the situation to ensure that traffic is not disrupted.

This step is being regarded as a major development aimed at ensuring public convenience and maintaining smooth traffic flow.
