The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced a convenient online facility allowing Pakistani citizens to apply for a replacement Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) through the PakID mobile app without visiting a NADRA office.

A CNIC is an essential identity document for Pakistani citizens living in the country as well as overseas. NADRA is the authorised institution responsible for issuing CNICs and other identity documents to Pakistanis.

Citizens may need a replacement CNIC if their existing card is lost or damaged. Those whose cards have expired are also required to apply for a new one, subject to the applicable validity rules.

The online facility is particularly useful for people who are unable to visit a NADRA registration centre because of work, business or other commitments. They can submit their replacement CNIC application from the comfort of their homes using the PakID app.

Applicants can follow these steps:

1.      Open the PakID mobile app and select “Identity Documents” from the home screen.

2.      Select the “CNIC” option.

3.      Choose the applicant on the next screen and select “Reprint.”

4.      Complete the application by following the instructions provided in the app.

5.      Submit the required information and complete the application process through the app.

The facility enables eligible citizens to apply for a replacement CNIC remotely, reducing the need for an in-person visit to a NADRA office.
