United States President Donald Trump said that Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Syed Mujtaba Khamenei, is not acceptable to him. Donald Trump said in his interview with the international media outlet that, “I must be involved in choosing Iran’s new Supreme Leader.”
Donald Trump said while speaking to Axios that Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Syed Mujataba Khamenei, is unacceptable for the US. Trump stressed that Iran needs a leader who can bring peace and stability to the country.
He said that the US want a leader for Iran who is peaceful and wants peace in the region.
The US president added that “I should be included in this appointment, just like Delcy Rodríguez was included in Venezuela.”
It is pertinent to mention that after the arrest of Venezuela’s Nicolas Maduro, Delcy Rodríguez became the interim president of Venezuela.
Donald Trump surrendered before Iran?
After this statement by Donald Trump, analysts are saying that he has surrendered to Iran. Several journalists are posting that it is very difficult for the US and Israel to do regime change in Iran.
US-Israel attacks on Iran
On February 28, 2026, the US and Israel launched attacks in Iran. In the US-Israel airstrikes, Iran’s Supreme Leader, Syed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed. After Khamenei’s killing, Iran targeted multiple Gulf countries and launched missiles at US military bases and other military installations.
However, the people on social media criticised Trump for making this statement, as several people termed this statement “nonsense.”
Iran’s new Supreme Leader
Syed Mujtaba Ali Khamenei is the elder son of Syed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. After the martyrdom of Syed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in US-Israel airstrikes, Iran selected Syed Mujtaba Khamenei as the new Supreme Leader of Iran.
