ICC Board meeting in Doha postponed

ICC Board meeting Doha

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has postponed its board meeting that was due to take place in Doha, Qatar from March 25-27 due to the current situation in the Middle East.

Member nations were informed about that decision on Saturday – eve of the ICC T20 World Cup final in Ahmedabad.  The meeting was postponed due to unavoidable reasons under the prevalent situation.

While the meeting likely will be rescheduled for April, no date has been announced yet. Sources suggest that the ICC is exploring an alternative venue in the Asian continent.

The Doha meetings were intended as a coming together of ICC Board Directors, Chief Executives, Committee Members and senior leadership as part of organisation’s regular governance calendar.

The assembly was seen as an important occasion to discuss the important issues that are affecting the present and future of the sport of international cricket.

When Qatar was announced as the host on February 22, the ICC hailed the country’s increased involvement with cricket and its sporting infrastructure.

The top governing body said that working with the Qatar Cricket Association and the Olympic Committee had made “remarkable progress” for the sport in recent years.
