India’s opener Rohit Sharma has claimed the number one spot in the ICC Men’s ODI Batting Rankings for the first time in his career, following a brilliant performance against Australia.
In the three-match ODI series, Rohit Sharma scored 73 runs in Adelaide and followed it up with an unbeaten 121 in Sydney. It earned him the Player of the Series award.
His outstanding form drove him past Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran and India’s Shubman Gill, reaching 781 rating points.
This marks the first time Rohit has topped the ODI rankings; his previous best was second place, achieved in July 2018.
Interestingly, Ibrahim Zadran had briefly become the first Afghan batsman to top the ODI rankings when Gill dropped between the second and third matches of the series, before Rohit eventually overtook him.
