ICC player rankings: Saud Shakeel enters top 10, Babar Azam sixth

Web Desk: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has issued its latest ICC player rankings, bringing several changes for Pakistani and Indian players across formats.

In the Test batting rankings, Saud Shakeel has climbed one spot to break into the top 10, now standing at 10th position.

Meanwhile, in the Test bowling rankings, Noman Ali has slipped one spot.

However, in the Test all-rounders’ category, he has improved his standing, moving up from fourth to third place.

In the ODI rankings, Babar Azam has retained his sixth position among batters.

India’s Rohit Sharma continues to hold the top spot in the ODI batting rankings.

While Virat Kohli has moved up two places to claim second position.

ICC test batters ranking

The latest ICC rankings show Joe Root at the top with a rating of 898, followed by Kane Williamson and Steve Smith.

Harry Brook has moved up to fourth, while Sri Lanka’s Kamindu Mendis completes the top five.

Other players in the top ten include Temba Bavuma, Travis Head, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Daryl Mitchell.

Saud Shakeel is currently ranked 10th with a rating of 734.

His consistent performances over the past year have made him Pakistan’s highest-ranked Test batter.

Shakeel has played five Test matches this year, scoring two fifties in ten innings.

He also recently led the Karachi Region Blues to victory in the 2025 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.

In six matches, he scored 329 runs, including one fifty and one century, with an average of 32.90.

Fakhar Zaman fined

Previously, Pakistan batter Fakhar Zaman was found guilty of violating the International Cricket Council (ICC) Code of Conduct.

The breach occurred during the tri-nation series final against Sri Lanka. Fakhar Zaman was penalised for a Level 1 offence and fined 10 per cent of his match fee.

He has also received one demerit point on his disciplinary record. This is his first offence in a 24-month period.

The International Cricket Council posted regarding this on an X post.

It stated, “Pakistan’s experienced campaigner has been found guilty of breaching the ICC Code of Conduct.”
