The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the latest Test player rankings, and notably, no Pakistani batter has secured a place in the top 10.
In a major boost for Bangladesh cricket, captain Najmul Hossain Shanto jumped 16 spots to claim 23rd position in the batting rankings, where he now shares the spot with Pakistan star Babar Azam.
The updated rankings reflect significant movement among Asian players following recent Test performances. Saud Shakeel has dropped six places to 15th in the batting rankings. Meanwhile, Azan Awais and Abdullah Shafique have entered the Test rankings for the first time following impressive performances on debut.
Abdullah Shafique is ranked 75th, while Azan Awais is in 82nd position. Among bowlers, Pakistan opener-turned-spinner Noman Ali has slipped three places to fifth position. Bangladeshi spinner Taijul Islam has moved up three spots to 13th, while Nahid Rana has climbed five places to 64th.
For Pakistan, Mohammad Abbas is ranked 28th among bowlers, while Hasan Ali is in 40th position. In the ICC World Test Championship standings, Bangladesh are ranked sixth, while Pakistan are seventh.
It is worth mentioning here that earlier, the International Cricket Council had released its annual ODI team rankings, with the India national cricket team retaining the top position.
According to the latest standings, India continues to lead the table with 118 rating points. The New Zealand national cricket team is ranked second with 113 points, while the Australia national cricket team holds third place with 109 points.
South Africa national cricket team has overtaken the Pakistan national cricket team to move into fourth position. South Africa has 102 rating points, while Pakistan has 98 points, pushing them down to fifth place.
In the rest of the rankings, the Sri Lanka national cricket team is sixth, the Afghanistan national cricket team seventh, and the England national cricket team eighth. Bangladesh national cricket team is ninth, while the West Indies national cricket team completes the top ten in tenth place.
