LAHORE: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled its latest shortlist for the Player of the Month. And this month’s nominees come with fresh credentials and outstanding latest performances.
In the limelight is Pakistan’s dynamic all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz. In 2025, he has emerged as Pakistan’s top T20 performer with a tally of 36 wickets and 362 runs in 26 matches.
A key moment was when in September, he claimed a hat-trick and took five in the tri-series final against Afghanistan. His good work with both bat and ball has put him in a strong position for the award.
From South Africa comes seasoned off-spinner Simon Harmer, whose red-ball form has been impossible to ignore.
In the recently completed Test series in Rawalpindi against Pakistan, Harmer delivered a stunning 6 for 50 in the final innings dismantling Pakistan’s batting line-up. And helping his team clinch an eight-wicket win to level the Two-Test series.
Remarkably, that wicket marked his 1,000th in first-class cricket a milestone few bowlers reach today. His control, variation and match-winning spells give him serious clout in the running.
The third nominee is Taijul Islam from Bangladesh. In the recent Test series against Ireland, he surpassed Shakib Al Hasan to become Bangladesh’s all-time highest wicket-taker in his 57th Test.
His left-arm spin proved decisive as Bangladesh sealed a 2–0 series sweep, with Taijul’s consistency and match-winning spells standing out.
With three very different players a white-ball all-rounder, an expert Test spin artist, and a record-breaking left-arm bowler the contest is wide open.
Fans and cricket followers will now wait eagerly to see whose recent magic earns them the crown.
