LAHORE: The latest ICC Women’s ODI Player Rankings, released today, confirm a host of movements following a series of strong performances in the ongoing ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup.
While India’s opener Smriti Mandhana firmly holds onto the top position in the batting charts, a spirited rise from Pakistan’s Sidra Amin has caught the eye.
Mandhana maintained her clear lead at No. 1, showcasing her consistent form in the format.
Sidra Amin Climbs into the Top 10
In a notable development, Pakistan’s opener Sidra Amin has moved up three places to break into the top 10, now sharing the 10th position in the latest rankings. This career-best ranking comes on the back of her valiant innings of 81 against India in the recent World Cup match.
Interestingly, this significant climb occurs immediately after Amin was officially reprimanded by the ICC and handed one demerit point for breaching the Code of Conduct. Her performance with the bat, however, proved powerful enough to secure her a spot among the world’s elite batters.
The ongoing Women’s Cricket World Cup has caused a massive shake-up in the latest rankings. South Africa’s Tazmin Brits was a major beneficiary, jumping two places to a career-high 4th after her century against New Zealand. Australia’s Ashleigh Gardner made an even bigger leap, surging seven places to reach a personal-best 5th position. Meanwhile, New Zealand skipper Sophie Devine also climbed seven spots, moving into the 8th position, highlighting the immediate and significant influence of the World Cup matches on the player standings.
