The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday has ordered that Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf founding chairman Imran Khan be provided a medical checkup and a new medical board should be formed in this regard.
A two-member bench of IHC comprising Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir and Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro conducted the hearing of a petition seeking the transfer of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital.
The court ordered the formation of the new medical board which should consist of Imran Khan’s personal physicians Dr Arif and Dr Nadeem Qureshi.
The court also ordered that the family be informed of the development in accordance with the jail manual.
Earlier the court had reserved the judgement in the case.
Earlier the defense counsel Sardar Latif Khosa had presented a report in court, detailing Khan’s medical examinations at the Adiala Jail hospital and two subsequent visits to PIMS for treatment.
At the outset, Advocate General Islamabad informed the court that the jail superintendent’s report had been received. The court, however, noted that the report should have been shared with the opposing counsel earlier.
