The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has banned teacher postings and transfers across the province until December 31, 2026.
The Elementary and Secondary Education Department issued a notification confirming the ban on teacher postings and transfers.
However, the restrictions will not apply to newly recruited teachers or teachers who have received promotions.
The department has also exempted essential appointments needed to make newly established schools operational.
Punjab plans to introduce global citizenship as a new school subject
Meanwhile, the Punjab government plans to introduce a new subject in schools to prepare students for the demands of the modern world.
The province will add Global Citizenship to the curriculum for students from Grades 4 to 8. The subject will carry 100 marks and will be taught as a separate course.
The authorities are considering introducing the subject from the next academic year with support from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
The proposed course will cover international citizenship, students’ rights and responsibilities at the global level, and the importance of becoming responsible citizens.
The Punjab Examination Commission (PEC) has started consultations with UNICEF on the introduction of the subject. UNICEF is also expected to provide funding for printing textbooks and other educational materials for the course.
According to the Education Department, the new subject aims to broaden students’ understanding of the global community and help them better understand their responsibilities and role at the international level.
