RAWALPINDI: Local court has sentenced murder accused, Imran Khan, to death in a high profile murder case in the jurisdiction of Dhamial police station.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Afshan Ijaz Sufi also ordered the convict to pay a fine of Rs500,000.

Announcing the verdict, the court stated that the convict should be hanged until death.

According to the court, the convict Imran Khan killed a man over enmity as he was leaving the mosque after offering Friday prayers.

Rawalpindi’s Dhamial has become a hub of crime in September a 50-year-old woman was allegedly set on fire by her brother-in-law.

Police said she was drenched in kerosene and burned inside her home, while the crime was first portrayed as an accident.

The accused had claimed a compressor blast caused the incident, but investigators later confirmed it was a deliberate act.
