The founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, has been shifted to Shifa International Hospital today in compliance with the recent orders given by the Supreme Court.
Imran Khan shifted to Shifa International Hospital
Imran Khan was shifted from Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail to Islamabad’s Shifa International Hospital under tight security today. Adiala Jail completed the necessary legal formalities for Imran Khan’s transfer to the hospital.
Additionally, the security squad had been directed to remain on high alert. More than 800 police officers had reportedly been deployed along the route to ensure security during the movement.
Previously, the Supreme Court ordered authorities to move PTI founder Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital for treatment. The court also asked for his complete medical record.
“The prisoner shall, within the next two days, be shifted to Shifa International Hospital, Islamabad,” the written order read.
A three-member bench led by Justice Shahid Waheed heard petitions related to meetings with Imran Khan and his treatment.

Who will be on the board of doctors for Imran Khan?
The Supreme Court ordered the formation of a medical board to oversee Imran Khan’s treatment.
The court had directed the formation of a specialised medical board. This would include a cardiologist, an eye specialist, a general medicine physician, and Khan’s personal doctor.
Imran Khan’s sister Dr Uzma Khan, who is also Imran Khan’s sister and a medical doctor. Additionally, his personal doctor, Dr Faisal Sultan, will also be part of the medical team during his treatment.
Can Imran Khan meet his family?
The court ordered that Imran Khan be allowed to meet his family once a week. It also stopped PTI from using his treatment for political purposes and said he would remain in the hospital until the next hearing.
Who will bear Imran Khan’s treatment expenses?
According to the order, the PTI founder or his family will bear the necessary expenses of treatment and facilities provided at Shifa International Hospital.
The court has also directed the government to make adequate security arrangements during his transfer to the hospital and throughout the treatment period.
‘No politicising health-related issues’
Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah said today that the government would make sure of the implementation of the Supreme Court’s order regarding Imran Khan’s health treatment.
He also stressed that the government was fully bound by judicial decisions. Earlier today, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi held an important meeting, according to sources.
According to the reports, it is likely that Imran Khan will be shifted to the hospital tonight. On August 18, the Supreme Court had ordered Khan to be moved to the hospital within 2 days.
Separately, Journalists asked Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar if Imran Khan would be shifted to the hospital by midnight today, 12 AM.
In response, Tarar said that there was still plenty of time before midnight. He said the administration was looking into the matter and was responsible for handling the transfer.
Previously, the Federal Information Minister, Atta Tarar, had said that the government has not politicised issues relating to someone’s health.
He had claimed that Imran Khan would be provided medical treatment and facilities in accordance with the jail manual.
