Founder PTI Imran Khan’s son Qasim Khan issued a message on social media on Wednesday.
On the social networking site X, in a statement, Qasim Khan said that he and his brother want to go to Pakistan to meet their father. He further added that Imran Khan has been in solitary confinement for 914 days and his health is deteriorating.
According to Qasim Khan, Imran Khan is not being given access to independent medical facilities, the government is deliberately not processing their visa applications and international human rights organisations and governments should raise their voice on this matter.
Khawaja Asif Assures Safety of Imran Khan’s Sons
Pakistan’s Defence Minister, Khawaja Asif, spoke about the safety of the former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s sons, Qasim and Suleiman Khan, in a conversation with the journalist Mehdi Hasan.
The interview follows claims posted by PTI affiliated social media accounts proposing that the boys can be arrested or be in danger if they attempt to go see their father, who is currently in jail.
Khawaja Asif rejected that these reports were false. When asked if Imran Khan’s sons would be able to visit their father without any consequences Asif responded firmly: “They won’t be arrested.” They won’t be harmed.”
Pressed further by Mehdi Hasan about whether he had the personal guarantee to ensure they were safe, the Defence Minister said without hesitation, “I give you my guarantee that they can come, visit their father, and safely return.”
His comments come as there is still misinformation surrounding the political implications of Imran Khan’s imprisonment and treatment of his family.
Medical facilities provided to Imran Khan
Recently, Imran Khan was treated for an eye condition and discharged from PIMS. According to PIMS Executive Director Rana Sikander, Imran Khan was treated for his eye condition at PIMS and the patient gave informed consent before getting any treatment.
This incident raises questions about Qasim’s claims that Imran Khan is not being provided proper medical facilities.
