RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) doctors have conducted the medical check-up of former PM Imran Khan in Adiala Jail.
According to sources, a five-member medical board from the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad visited Adiala Jail for a detailed health examination of Imran Khan.
The board, formed at the request of jail authorities, carried out multiple tests, a physical examination, and essential screenings.
The PIMS team arrived at Adiala Jail under tight security, where jail administration provided a briefing and all necessary arrangements for the checkup. The team spent nearly one hour inside the jail, reviewing PTI founder’s overall health, medical history, current symptoms, and previous treatments in detail.
The medical team comprised General Physician Dr. Ali Arif, General Surgeon Dr. Tariq Abdullah, Pathologist Dr. Saman Waqar, Dermatologist Dr. Mubashir, Psychiatrist, and Lab Technician Noman Iqbal.
According to jail sources, the doctors assessed Imran Khan’s blood pressure, sugar levels, weight, lungs, skin, joints, general fitness, and also collected samples for several laboratory tests.
Jail officials have confirmed that the PIMS team is now compiling its detailed report, which will include a complete medical status update on Imran Khan, recommendations for further treatment or tests, and guidance on medical facilities provided within the jail.
Sources revealed the report will be submitted to Adiala Jail authorities within the next few days, who will then forward it to relevant government authorities.
Earlier, in a separate development, PTI senior leaders admitted that Imran Khan’s repeated derogatory posts on X against the military led to a strong reaction from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
“When we do it so consistently, again and again, what would we expect from the other side?” a senior PTI figure told the media.
He added that if one starts counting, “maybe a hundred times harsh language was used against the military command from Khan’s X account during the last two years.”
On Friday, ISPR Director General (DG) Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said that a single man’s narrative has become a threat to national security.
While addressing a press conference, DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said, “We do not want to become part of politics.” He also highlighted respect for all political parties and reaffirmed that the army does not carry the flag of any political party.
Without naming Imran Khan, he said that one person has become a threat to national security and believes, “If I am not here, nothing exists.” He emphasised that the Pakistan Army works solely for national security and does not represent any political agenda, ethnicity, or political ideology.
