The Lahore administration has imposed a ban on kite flying in areas located near Lahore Airport, and a formal notification has been issued in this regard.
According to a spokesperson for the Interior Department the notification was issued by the Deputy Commissioner Lahore following approval from the provincial cabinet.
The ban has been enforced in line with recommendations of the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) related to aviation safety.
The restricted areas include Nadar Abad, Gulshan Ali Colony, Ali View, Nishat Colony and Bhatta Chowk.
In addition, the ban will also apply to Defence areas K, Q, R and S,Al-Faisal Town, Joray Pul, Canal Bank Road and Tajpura.
Authorities have warned that strict action will be taken against violators to ensure flight safety and prevent any untoward incidents.
Safety guidelines issued for bike riders during Basant
The government of Punjab issued special safety guidelines for bike riders ahead of the Basant festival in the province.
According to the guidelines, motorcyclists must install safety wires on motorcycles and bikes during the Basant festival to protect riders from any unfortunate incidents.
The authorities have issued Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to the Home Department for approval ahead of Basant.
The celebrations of the festival have begun from today with both daytime and nighttime activities.
As per the new ordinance 2025, kite flying is allowed within the specified spaces at the designated locations. Under 18 years of age are not permitted to participate in the kite flying festivals.
The new kite-flying ordinance gives to the law enforcement extensive powers, as a police officer of Sub Inspector rank has been authorized for an arrest warrant, seize prohibited material and conduct searches at any premises.
The kite-flying returns comes as part by the government of Punjab to revive civilization festivals and traditional cultural that had been faded over the past 25 years.
